A Brief History
The Finest Golf Society is a fraternal organization
dedicated to creating a comfortable environment for
the men and women of Law Enforcement to enjoy a round
of golf with their peers in Law Enforcement.
Formed in 2006, the Finest Golf Society is
registered with New York State and the IRS as a Not
For Profit Organization. What started out as wishful
thinking on an annual golf trip to Myrtle Beach, became
a reality in February of 2006. That is when Patrick
Donohue, Rich Conte, Dan Pizzuto and Billy Cranston
formed the Finest Golf Society. On April 17th,
2006, 48 golfers gathered at historic Van Cortland Golf
Course to tee it up for the first ever gathering of the
Finest Golf Society. Since that April day in 2006,
the Society has grown in leaps and bound. In 2007, the
Society averaged 70 golfers for each outing. Some of
the courses the Society have played since in
inception include:
West Point Military Academy Golf Course
The Links at Union Vale
Van Cortland Golf Course
Dyker Beach Golf Course
Timber Point Golf Course
Long Island
National Golf Course
Crab Meadow Golf Course
Putnam National Country Club
Blue Hills Golf Course
In 2007, the Society headed down to Myrtle Beach
South Carolina for it’s first ever road trip. 24
golfers went down to the National Law Enforcement
Officer’s Golf Classic run by Dan Morphet and Finest
Golf Society member John Vescio.
The Finest Golf Society remains committed
to the philosophy of being a fraternal organization
that encourages members to socialize, network and to
establish friendships based on the common interests of
law enforcement and the game of golf. In keep with the
traditions of the game of golf, the Society is not
for profit organization that will raise funds to
donate to designated to worthy charities. With that
in mind, the Society has chosen the National Law
Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington DC as its
designated charity. To date, the Society has donated
over $5,000 to the DC Memorial.
