A Brief History
The Finest Golf Society is a fraternal organization
dedicated to creating a comfortable environment for
the men and women of Law Enforcement to enjoy a round
of golf with their peers in Law Enforcement.
Formed in 2006, the Finest Golf Society is registered
with New York State and the IRS as a Not For Profit
Organization. What started out as wishful thinking on
an annual golf trip to Myrtle Beach, became a reality in
February of 2006. That is when Patrick Donohue, Rich
Conte, Dan Pizzuto ,Billy Cranston and Pete
Hammer formed the Finest Golf Society. The Society was
formed with the goal of creating a comfortable
environment for men and women of Law Enforcement to
enjoy a round of golf and to socialize with their
peers.
The Finest Golf Society remains committed to the philosophy of being
a fraternal organization that encourages members to
socialize, share information and to establish
friendships based on the common interests of law
enforcement and the game of golf. In keep with the
traditions of the game of golf, the Society is not
for profit organization that will raise funds to
donate to designated to worthy charities.
Society Members
The Finest Golf Society is open to any male or female
who is either an active or retired member of law
enforcement. Special consideration is given to
civilians that are not sworn members of law enforcement,
but have dedicated their time and resources
to creating a better quality of life for members of
law enforcement. The Society is open in all levels
of golfers. Whether you are a scratch handicap. or
just starting out, the Society is the place for you.
Membership Benefits
By becoming a a member in the Finest Golf Society, you
are able to enjoy many benefits.
When you join the Finest Golf Society you become a
member of the
Metropolitan Golf Association. As a member of the
Metropolitan Golf Association you are entitled to
the full membership benefits of a MGA member. These
include a subscription to the Met Golfer, the official
publication of the Metropolitan Golf Association.
You are also entitled to
an official USGA handicap. Being a member of the MGA
allows you to participate in MGA sponsored tournaments
as well as MGA Play Days. Once you become a member
of the Finest Golf Society you will receive a golf bag
tag that has the Society's logo on the front, as well as
your name and the year you became a member on the back
of the tag. Along with the bag tag, you will receive
a golf towel, embroidered with the Society's logo.
Members of the Finest
Golf Society are able to purchase merchandise with the
Society's logo at discounted rate.
Members of the Society
gather one day a month at alternating golf courses. The
courses the Society play alternate to allow members
to experience some of the best courses in the tri-state
area. This also varies the amount of travel that
members have to make.
Membership Dues
Membership dues are
based on a calendar year and the current rate for 2008
is $50.
